WE'VE DONE IT AGAIN!

We have added yet another prize to our list of achievements: the 2005 HIA Housing Industry Award for best Special-Purpose Housing Project.

HIA Award

With so many facilities, like an indoor pool, gymnasium, craft house, trout stocked lakes, BBQ’s, caravan storage and tennis court to name a few, Blue Hills has been
recognized as one of Australia’s finest housing projects for the over 55’s. Being acknowledged by Australia’s leading Housing association, Blue Hills Residences, in association with Bevnol Homes, have proven that their retirement homes are more
than just residences…they’re a lifestyle.

JACK HIGH AT BLUE HILLS

On a beautiful autumn day in late March, Blue Hills Residences in Cranbourne proudly hosted the 2006 Retirement Village Association Lawn Bowls Competition. The competition is open to all bowlers who are residents of a Victorian retirement facility.

BowlingOf the four retirement villages with a full size bowling green, Blue Hills was chosen to facilitate the 8 teams that made it to the finals. 42 teams started out from around Victoria with the final teams setting a cracking standard. The 8 finalists included: Blue Hills, Botanic Gardens, Cherry Tree Grove, Long Island, Meadowvale, Peppertree Hill, Village Glen and Waterford Valley Lakes. The winners of the first round were: Blue Hills V Cherry Tree Grove and Village Glen V Meadowvale. The 4 losing teams were able to get in some valuable match practice while the semifinalists played off. The grand final battle was played after lunch between Meadowvale and Cherry Tree Grove, with Meadowvale taking out the final honours in a closely fought match.

At the conclusion of afternoon tea, Mr. Peter Nilsson presented the winner’s
trophy to the captain of Meadowvale, John Walker, on behalf of the RVA. The
RVA Lawn Bowls Trophy is held by the winning team for a year, whilst each team
member including Col Luxford, J. Walker and P. Philmore received a smaller trophy
which they keep.

Judging by the cheers and comments of most of the players and onlookers, the RVA
2006 Lawn Bowls Competition looks set to have bright future and Blue Hills Residences Cranbourne is proud to have had an integral role in hosting the event this year.

LANDSCAPED AND LOVELY

Landscaping

Residents will no doubt have noticed the new landscaping of the lakes at Blue Hills. We need to thank Tony Smith, David Rust, Michael Ryland and Barry Claugie for their magnificent efforts. The planting includes use of various natives such as ‘acacia cognata’ and ‘eucalyptus caesia’ with grass varieties such as’ lomandra’ and ‘phorimum’. We can’t wait to see the plants this coming Spring.

Les Semmens has been busy with the construction of our new boardwalk. It will have seating to enjoy fishing all year round, or to simply relax and gaze at the water. Completion is expected for Spring 2006. We expect many a blanket and picnic basket to be dusted off and filled with fine fare to consume on the lake’s beautiful banks.

NEW GIRL ON THE BLOCK

Tracey BradfordYou will no doubt have noticed that we have a new girl at Blue Hills. Tracey Bradford comes to us with 20 years of experience in both management and sales. She is a even a local, living in Berwick. “My current position as Sales Manager involves showing potential buyers through facilities and displays, explaining our concept of retirement living, taking care of reception, attending to resident queries, co-ordinating move-in dates with new residents and giving them orientation upon arrival, help new purchasers select interior colors, advertising... and that’s about it.” says Tracey... well, we hope you won’t be too bored working here!
